Parallel Universe- Is Anybody Out There.
Installation.
In my imagined parallel universe, as near a perfect copy as I can get of our own, it is peopled by, what appears to us to be mannequins. Of course their stillness is explained by the time difference or different times. When they move, if at all, it is very slowly, so much so that we don’t even notice. Conversely to them we move very very fast.
Three of these mannequins are in the shop in Greenwich Market. We can see them through gaps in the whited out windows peering out, or so it appears at us. Who are they? What are they, with their slightly unfocused dress sense.? Surely not workmen inside refitting the shop? They don’t move at all.
I have tried to calculate the relative speeds of these two universes as they collide in Greenwich and of course it is impossible. Any calculation depends on how fast the mannequins might move, if indeed at all? If they don’t move then the difference is infinite. If they move at let us say, 1cm per 24 hours then our relative speed would be approximately 800,000 times faster than theirs. So the interesting question is, when they look out into Greenwich, supposing they do, exactly what do they see?
